Growing up, my life was not ideal. My family and I were introduced to suffering, hate and the cruelties of this world. After relentless pain, depression, and suicide knocking on my door for 16 years, I felt like I lost it all. That there was no point in living. But I realized, though the suffering was haunting. There was someone I held most dear standing there through it all. With the biggest smile on their face. Reminding me to never give up. My twin has loved me passionately, constantly and enterally. She made me realize that great heroes aren’t just people who are born naturally wanting to save. But heroes are those who, even if they give up, still have that small, slight chance of what if. The possibility that they might be able to do something right.
Thus, the vision of Hugo came to life. Yes, there are your typical stories of heroes who suffer and still choose to do good. But Hugo isn’t one of these stories. Hugo is a story of the truth. Not everybody is a hero; some are cowards who run away. We all have our reasons for doing what we do. However, despite those reasons and the mistakes we have made, what matters is what you choose to do now.
I hope that this book will give you guys the hope that my sister has poured and blessed me with. A hope that maybe even someone like you can become more than you ever imagined. You deserve to see yourself become the person you always knew you could be.
